Man in the mirror

I've arrived safely in Spain thanks to the hometown heroes at Delta Airlines. Today is a transfer day.

8 hour flight, short bus ride to Terminal 4 with a spirited driver, 30 minute train transfer to Chamatín station.

As I write this, I'm sitting in this train station listening to the lullaby of jackhammers and an oversold crowd trying to find seats and refreshments as they wait for their trains. I am rejoicing with alleluias that I booked a quiet car for this train ride!

I've met and talked with a dozen pilgrims already today. We are all trying with our best Spanish/English and making our way to our selected starting points. We are pretty easy to spot. Oversized shoes and backpacks, with trekking poles being the dead giveaway. We all wish each other a sincere "Buen Camino" before going our own way.

At 1pm, I'll take a two hour bullet train to Leon, followed by a lunch break, and then a three hour bus transfer to Villafranca del Bierzo, the city where I will resume my walk. I've reserved a private room in a hostel tonight where I'll fall happily on my face after a very long road and number of hours awake to get here.

As I sat sleepily on the transfer train, I caught my reflection in the mirror. It's been 5 years since I was here. I'm excited about what Papa has in store for me. Come to think of it, I'm excited for what He has in store for all of us.

Todays prayer request... I feel great, but I've been surrounded by travelers who are sniffling and coughing. Its crowded here, and we are all over each other's space. In your kindness, please consider praying that I stay healthy despite the crowds.

If there's something specific I can pray on for you today, leave a comment below or shoot me a direct message on social media.

I'll see you down the road, Greg
